James E. Heppelmann, Chief Executive Officer

James (Jim) Heppelmann is the chief executive officer (CEO) of PTC and is responsible for driving PTC's global business strategy and operations. Previous to his appointment as CEO, Mr. Heppelmann served as PTC's president and chief operating officer, responsible for managing the operating business units of the company including R&D, Marketing, Sales, Services, and Maintenance. He also serves on PTC's Board of Directors.

Experience
Mr. Heppelmann previously served as executive vice president, software products, and chief product officer at PTC with responsibility for overall product direction, including coordination of PTC product vision and strategy, product design and development, and product marketing and management.

Mr. Heppelmann has worked in the information technology industry since 1985 and has extensive experience developing and deploying large-scale product development systems within the manufacturing marketplace. Prior to joining PTC, Mr. Heppelmann was co-founder and chief technical officer of Windchill Technology, a Minnesota-based company acquired by PTC in 1998. Before co-founding Windchill Technology, Mr. Heppelmann served as chief technical officer at Metaphase Technology. Mr. Heppelmann had worked at Control Data Corporation (now known as Syntegra) for seven years until the company formed Metaphase in 1992.

Mr. Heppelmann travels extensively to customer sites around the globe and speaks regularly at product development and manufacturing industry forums on topics such as PLM, global product development, and gaining competitive advantage through product development process improvement. He has also been published and quoted in numerous business and trade media, including The Boston Globe, The Wall Street Journal, and Bloomberg Television.

Mr. Heppelmann serves as a member of the national FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) executive advisory board, and is a member of the Dean's advisory board at the University of Minnesota College of Science & Engineering.

Education
Mr. Heppelmann attended University of Minnesota, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering with an emphasis on computer-aided design.

Mark Benjamin

Mr. Benjamin, age 50, has served as the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Nuance Communications, Inc., a software company that provides speech recognition solutions powered by artificial intelligence, since April 2018. Before that, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of NCR Corporation, a provider of enterprise software, hardware and services, from October 2016 to March 2018. Before that he spent over 20 years in various leadership positions at Automatic Data Processing, Inc. (ADP), a provider of human resources management software and services, including as President of Global Enterprise Solutions at from July 2013 to October 2016. Mr. Benjamin holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Finance and Marketing from the University of Miami.

Janice D. Chaffin

PTC director since 2013, Ms. Chaffin most recently served as Group President, Consumer Business Unit of Symantec Corporation from April 2007 to March 2013. Prior to that, she served as Chief Marketing Officer of Symantec. Prior to joining Symantec, Ms. Chaffin spent 21 years at Hewlett-Packard Company where she held a variety of marketing and business management positions.

Amar Hanspal

Mr. Hanspal served as Chief Executive Officer at Bright Machines, Inc., a software company that focuses on factory automation combining robotics, machine vision and machine learning software, from May 2018 to December 2021. Before that, Mr. Hanspal served as co-CEO at Autodesk from February 2017 to June 2017, where he was instrumental in transitioning the company from an on-premise technology and software licensing model to a SaaS-based products and subscription model. Before that, he held roles at Autodesk that included Chief Product Officer from November 2011 to February 2017, Senior Vice President of Platform Solutions and Emerging Business, and Vice President of Collaboration Solutions. Mr. Hanspal was the Co-Founder and Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for RedSpark, Inc., which focused on collaborative product development applications for the discrete manufacturing industry. Mr. Hanspal holds a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Bombay University and a M.S. in mechanical engineering from State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has also completed the executive managerial program at Stanford University.

Ms. Katz joined the Board in February 2022. Ms. Katz has served as head of corporate investment banking for the Americas for Mizuho Financial Group, Inc. since November 2019. Prior to that, Ms. Katz was a Managing Director and Co-Head of the Global Technology Investment Banking Group at RBC Capital Markets, LLC from 2013 to August 2019 and then an employee of RBC on garden leave through October 2019. She served as Managing Director and Global Head, Software, at Barclays Capital Inc. from 2008 to 2013, and prior to that served as Managing Director and in other roles at Lehman Brothers Inc. from 1996 to 2008. Ms. Katz earned a B.A. in political science from the Binghamton University and a J.D. from New York University.

Prior to that, Dr. Lathan was an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at The Catholic University of America and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. Dr. Lathan received her B.A. in Biopsychology and Mathematics from Swarthmore College, and an S.M. in Aeronautics and Astronautics and Ph.D. in Neuroscience from MIT.
